Port Klang, 28 February 2013 – After 40 days of journey from Great Yarmouth via the Suez Canal and Gulf of Eden, geophysical survey vessel; the AG Surveyor arrives today in Port Klang.

The 61m long ocean going survey vessel will undergo some maintenance, fulfill class and marine department formalities after which she will be ready to be used as survey platform for analogue surveys. The vessel will subsequently be installed with a full complement 2D high resolution survey package and ready to undertake digital site survey assignments in Malaysia and the SEA region.

The vessel has a hull-mounted medium depth Kongsberg Maritime, Norway, EM 710 high resolution multi-beam echo sounder and is capable of carrying out geophysical and geotechnical surveys in 1,500m water depth. The system is a 1x1 degree version with full FM pulse and dual swath capability. The AG Surveyor is equipped with a V-Sat communication system for internet access and fast data transfer to shore base.

AG’s Managing Director, Dato’ Helmi Zulkawi says, “This will be the third vessel owned by the AG Group after the geotechnical vessels, namely MV Geos and DP Geoasia. We are currently targeting to serve mainly Malaysia’s oil and gas operators and hence we have specifically ensured that all the three (3) vessels belonged to us are registered in Malaysia.”

Helmi adds, “We see that there is an increasing demand for a good and competent survey vessel to service our clients in the region. The AG Surveyor has had extensive track records in Europe. We believe she can  serve AG well with its economical fuel consumption particularly in mitigating the rise of operations cost throughout the operations.”

To date, AG has performed geophysical survey works in this region for the past five years utilizing its various geotechnical vessels and also by using the Malaysian-flagged dedicated survey vessel MV Dayang Sari since last year.
